Bluefeather, sometimes it takes a long time to get diagnosed. It's hard to know why it took 8 months to get you scheduled for a scope, but docs are often unwilling to do invasive testing like that unless they think there is a good chance it will be conclusive.
Please bring someone with you to the scope. Someone you can trust who can listen to what the doctor says after the scope. You will probably not remember that, even though you will be waking up from the anesthesia.
