So I bruised my ribs last week and it's been quite painful. I took 6 doses of ibuprofen over 3-4 days. I know I shouldn't have, but it helped with the pain. I've also been taking flexeril and tramadol. I'm a bit constipated from the tramadol. Last night I finally went to the bathroom and I did strain some. There was blood in the water and on the toilet paper. This morning even though I didn't poop again there was blood on the toilet paper. I'm a bit freaked out that I should be running to my doctor. Can I just chalk this up to straining? Or should I get in ASAP to my doc?

You did a big oops! Crohns and Ibuprofen don't mix well, it's a blood thinner. Tylenol would have been better. It's your call wait 24 to 48 to see if you improve or if you don't improve then call. I take 6 to 8 Tylenol generics each day while at work. It works so so.

Question Everything--

I didn't need a scolding about taking ibuprofen. In my post I said I knew I shouldn't have taken it, but I took the risk in an effort to get some pain relief. This is the only time I have taken ibuprofen since being diagnosed with CD.

Was the Blood Dark (like Marron Colored) or Bright Red?

Also, was the stool liquid or solid

If you have a large GI Bleed, the blood acts as a laxitive and you would tend to have a few bouts of Tarry black to Maroon colored bowel movements.
If it is bright red it could be a bleed from the Large intestine -
Like I said though, if it is a few drops, you are fine, if it is a few bowls full of loose stool that you cannot see because the toilet is full of blood, then that is something you may want to tell your doctor about

It's bright red. My stool was solid, and enough blood to color the water. I bled again today so I'll be getting in touch with my GI on Monday. :-(
