Simponi experiences?

I take Simponi for my AS, and as a trial to see if it helps with my Crohn's. I also take mtx with it. TBH I have no idea if it's helping my bowels as I was already in remission when I started. But my GI did tell me that it works really well for UC but they don't know if it's effective for Crohn's, so I'm a bit of a guinea pig. So far I prefer it to Humira, as it doesn't hurt when you inject. Soooo much better!

I have been taking Simponi for 3.5 years for my AS. I wasn't aware that Simponi was approved for IBDs. That said, when I started Simponi, my guts seemed to be in remission and a scope one year after starting it found no evidence of CD. Simponi has been the most effective of the anti-TNFs that I have taken. I do have to take it every 3 weeks as doing it every 30 days as recommended has my joints flaring before the next injection.

Now comes the big BUT...got out of the hospital 3 days ago after a severe bleed. Had a colonoscopy while in and my colon was a mess. Awaiting biopsy results to see if this was a Crohn's event or ischemic colitis. If it is a CD flare, then I would say the Simponi was not effective in controlling my disease. I'll let you know whan I find out what exactly I have.
