Crohns and influenza

I am visiting my son, in VA, for the holidays and we came down with an "unidentified" strain of influenza. Unfortunately, I have Crohns and have developed vomiting and diarrhea. I'm not keeping any of my meds (for various problems including pain) down and am having serious diarrhea. My daughter-in-law who is a nurse says I don't need to go to the ER, just keep hydrated. Since I don't have a doctor here, I'm not sure of what I should do. I could really use some advice from "those in the know." Thanks

How long have you not been able to keep down your meds?

My very healthy 23 year old son, who does not have Crohn's had terribly stomach flu with vomiting and diarrhea. He was out of town at the time. I had to beg and plead with him to go to the ER for fluids. By the time he finally went, he was severely dehydrated with his heart rate in the 150's. He received two bags of fluids and anti-nausea medication and recovered quickly. If you are having bad trouble staying hydrated, you will feel so much better with anti-nausea drugs and IV fluids in the ER, and you will be able to keep your meds too. Please don't wait too long. With Crohn's the stomach viruses can get out of control quickly
