Hey all,

I just wanted to give an update.  A while back I was asking questions about Anti-TNF meds.  We (the doc and I) decided that Humira would be the best course to try.

Well, I did the initial loading phase last night...the 4 shots in the stomach.  For those that wonder if it hurts or not, I'll explain:

Let me start by saying that I am deathly affraid of needles  (sometimes getting dizzy and/or passing out)...with that said, the nurse came to my house and she did the first shot.  It stung (we didn't let it sit out for 30 minutes...went right from the fridge to by belly).  The stinging lasted for the 10 seconds of the shot and for a couple of minutes afterward.  I didn't get dizzy or anything.  It was rather easy.

After that shot, I proceeded to do the other 3 on my own.  Again, a little stinging that went away after a few minutes.  I haven't had any adverse reactions.  It feels that I did about 100 situps.  It just feels a little tight in the stomach area right now.

Last night I also had phase 2 of the Hep B vaccination and a B12 shot in my arms.  I feel like a pin cushion.  My arm that had the Hep B shot feels worse than my stomach area right now.

These are just my .02 and I wanted to give everyone an update.  Thanks for listening.

I never tried doing a shot straight from the fridge: always took the pens out 15 or so minutes beforehand. The one time I forgot about them and left them for nearly an hour, the sting was actually a lot less, IIRC. But I presume the Humira is refridgerated for a reason, so I don't like leaving it out for too long.

Never got any post-shot reactions in the slightest. No bruising. Which I did get in hospital when the nurses gave me shots (blood-thinning meds, I think) in my stomach - hated those =/ Personally I'd rather have injections in the thighs than the stomach.

Nothing very interesting; just my two pence's worth :p

Well, sounds like everything went pretty well for you. I usually let mine sit and iced. Unfortunately I had a very bad reaction to Humira, but let's hope it makes you feel better soon.

Hi you should leave the Humira out for 30 mins. before you inject
to bring to room temp. It should not sting.

I've been using Humira for more than 2 years now, in the belly, once a week. I always leave them out 30 minutes and they always sting. Sometimes more than other times. But it's not that bad. Have sometimes gotten a hard lump, rash or bruise but rarely. And that tightness is normal for a few minutes afterwards. Hope Humira works for you!

Thanks for the tips!!

It has been five days now and no side effects from Humira.
(I'm tired...but then again...I'm always tired. So, I wouldn't be able to tell if it's the Humira or not.)
I have noticed that I'm not having as many BMs, but I can't tell if it's the Humira, my changed diet, the fact that I quit smoking 8 days ago...or all of the above.

I'm hoping once I get my Vit B levels back up that I'll be less tired.
