Breast Implants and Crohn's

I have had two breast augmentations done. First time with Saline in 2005 and the second time with Silicone in beginning of 2012. One of my saline bags had leaked and my implant deflated. I had no issues at all with the fact that it deflated or two surgeries. I know everyone is different when it comes to how their body will react but I have had Crohns for 16 years and I have so many other issues but luckily no problems when I got my implants. I didn't even think about there being a problem to be honest until I saw this post. Lol

Oh yes definitely silicone! I would of had silicone in 2005 if they had been available. The only thing that bothered me at all with the surgery that was crohns related for me was the percocests I was on for pain afterwards. It was definitely needed but when I take pain killers for more then a few days it really hurts my stomach and makes me so constipated. But for me my worst problem with crohns is constipation. But for the actual surgery no issues at all :)

Wow....I answer your question with a resounding YES ! YESYESYES !!
My saline implants were placed subpectoralis via breast crease incision in February 2001. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in June 2007. As the story goes, many hospitalizations, medications, borderline colectomy with ostomy, etc. Fast forward several years; I am enjoying a life of full remission.
I have often thought of the possible correlation between my breast augmentation and subsequent Crohns diagnosis. And as THAT story goes, there is no way to unequivocally prove it. My gut feeling? They are most certainly related.

And the final kicker, bite-in-the-pass, coup de gras...or any of those sayings is this: I am a physician. A family doctor. Not ironic, but a definite cause for head-shaking. I'm happy to help in answering any questions you may have for me.

I'm sorry to hear of your difficulty with Remicade. I haven't yet found any data to correlate with the response from your doctor (I'm most certainly not questioning your pain or its relationship to Remicade infusion), but I'll keep looking. I received Remicade for almost one year; didn't work wonders for me, but it was not anywhere near as difficult for me to tolerate as 6-MP.
I wonder....have you found yourself dealing with any "new" skin issues that you think may be related to your implants and/or your Crohn's Disease/treatment?
