I have Crohn's and had a Laproscopic Nissen Fundoplication a little over a year ago. I didn't have heartburn - I had LPR which caused me to constantly inhale stomach acid. It was a bad, bad thing.
I also needed to get the Nissen soon after being diagnosed because my Crohn's was going nuclear over the PPI meds.
The Nissen was challenging - surgery always hurts at the beginning. And then you get better. I've had several, so I'm quite the grizzled veteran.
If you'd like any additional info, I'm happy to share any details. Much like this Crohn's forum, the GERD/Heartburn forum on healingwell is absolutely excellent. You will learn everything you need to know there. The people are great and most have had the surgery. They call it the "Wrapped Club."
Good luck,
Leslie
