I am so shocked right now! If you have been following my posts on here you might've read that I thought I had a recto vaginal fistula so did the colon and rectal surgeon. Well I went for the exam under anesthesia last Friday and he spoke to me after surgery and I called him and he told me he didn't find any fistula or abscess but my anal cavity was narrow so he dilated it and that was all. Oh, and I am a 20 year old college student. okay, so that's the backstory.
Well since surgery I was having a sore feeling on the right side of my vagina where I had the small hole that was thought to be a fistula but supposedly wasn't. Anyways, I didn't think to check because I just thought it was that small hole bothering me again. But I have been noticing a lot less, close to none, vaginal discharge than before surgery. I found that kind of odd because I wondered what an anal surgery had to do with vaginal discharge.
Well I finally decided to grab a mirror and check to see what was going on. Lo and behold, there is a white string in a little knot coming out of the small hole! WTH!? I am at home now recovering from the surgery so I asked my mom to see because I thought I was seeing things. And she looked and she saw it too! I am about
99% sure it is a seton.
It's nighttime now so I will definitely be calling the surgeon tomorrow to see what is going on. But I am just so in shock! He said he didn't find a fistula that all he had done was an anal dilation!
