I have a surprise seton!

I am so shocked right now! If you have been following my posts on here you might've read that I thought I had a recto vaginal fistula so did the colon and rectal surgeon. Well I went for the exam under anesthesia last Friday and he spoke to me after surgery and I called him and he told me he didn't find any fistula or abscess but my anal cavity was narrow so he dilated it and that was all. Oh, and I am a 20 year old college student. okay, so that's the backstory.

Well since surgery I was having a sore feeling on the right side of my vagina where I had the small hole that was thought to be a fistula but supposedly wasn't. Anyways, I didn't think to check because I just thought it was that small hole bothering me again. But I have been noticing a lot less, close to none, vaginal discharge than before surgery. I found that kind of odd because I wondered what an anal surgery had to do with vaginal discharge.

Well I finally decided to grab a mirror and check to see what was going on. Lo and behold, there is a white string in a little knot coming out of the small hole! WTH!? I am at home now recovering from the surgery so I asked my mom to see because I thought I was seeing things. And she looked and she saw it too! I am about 99% sure it is a seton.

It's nighttime now so I will definitely be calling the surgeon tomorrow to see what is going on. But I am just so in shock! He said he didn't find a fistula that all he had done was an anal dilation!

Is it possible that a stitch was used for the small hole? Dissolvable stitches are generally white.

Hope you feel better soon, it's maddening when they do things without explaining properly...

Oh no I'm not thinking there is any lying or anything like that. he is a great surgeon. But I asked him over the phone if he had done anything to that small hole and he explicitly said No, he didn't do anything there. He said he didn't see anything. he said all he had done was the anal dilation. Maybe he forgot or he confused me with someone else. Idk...

But it is clear that there is some sort of string on that hole next to the vagina.
You know it could be a dissolvable stitch. but I can't tell for sure. I was just so surprised to see that there when he did not speak of that at all even when I asked him if anything was done there. I may have overreacted yesterday:(
But I had never had something like this happen.
I had even thought there might be an abscess as in the last few days it really started hurting. And I was putting cortisone cream on there which might have made it start hurting more these last few days. I think if he had done something there he should let me know so I can be more careful!
