As they suggested, the drug company usually has some sort of program to help patients with no insurance and low income.
Also, if you are having trouble finding where to start, go to your local health dept. (if you are in the US - not sure what it is like outside of the US) and they can help you locate various places that can help with medications. For instance, in NC, there are tons of different programs by county. Another great resource is your GI's financial assistance office. My GI's clincial assistant was actually the one who helped me locate medication assistance in the area of my college.
Going back to the drug company assistance. Sometimes, it is difficult to get in with them in a timely manner. So, maybe call your GIs office (or your PCP/whomever provides maintenance care for you) and they often have the paperwork in their office, or connections at the drug company to speed up the process.
Best of luck,
