yes I have cats as well nenagirl.,,,,,.lantoprost and dorzolamide are my drops..
Yep, those are the generic forms of Xalatan and Timolol. I do use the generics now, too - the brand names are just easier to spell
.
My pressure while using Xalatan increased to the upper 20's, hence the addition of the second drop. I initially started on the Xalatan when I was being watched for ocular hypertension (pre-glaucoma) and failed one of the visual field tests. I have a small slice of vision missing in that troublesome left eye of mine.
'Normal' pressures range between 10 and 20 - but 'normal' varies from person to person.. The regular pressure checks (every 3 months as Ides posted) are key in catching any irregularities.
I had cataract surgery in both eyes when I was 36 (in 1997). The cataract (hardened lens) was so advanced in my left eye the dr. had to make a larger-than-usual incision to remove it and it required stitches, a couple that are permanent. That is part of the reason for increased pressure in that eye (the other culprit being prednisone). It wasn't until a couple years ago that the pressure climbed to the point of needing meds and the glaucoma diagnosis. My right eye remains stable at 17-18 with no meds.
