Toilet paper issue for crohnie's

Hi All,haven't posted for a while

My wife came home the other day with TP that she had bought on special.This sent me into a half hour tirade about the virtues of my prefered brand of TP as opposed to others.I even have them down in order of preference in case that one is out of stock.She just shrugged and walked off. Then i realised TP is a very personal crohnie thing,

What are your experiences

I think you should apologize to your wife. I have Crohn's as well, since 1999. My wife of 17 years does most of the cooking so when I have a flare, she takes it quite personally that she has hurt me. Additionally, when I am out of commission from Crohn's any work that I might have been doing around the house or with the kids will fall to her. In short my Crohn's adds quite a burden to my wife. As your Crohn's adds a physical and emotional burden to your wife.
Just go to the store yourself and buy the TP that you want and don't make your wife feel bad for trying to save some money.

I'm not trying to be to harsh, just my $0.02 worth.

I won't sugar coat it, you screwed up! An apology worthy of a half hour rant is in order. TP or what ever it is, is not worth alienating your wife over.

It might have been better if you ranted about it here on the forum instead of taking it out on her. Remember when you get in trouble who will be there for you, your wife.

Well, I am with you crohnie-boy! If your wife doesn't understand how vital the toilet paper is to your life (as it is with most Crohnies) then she isn't getting it.
Toilet paper is like medication, you gotta have the right one!

Uh-uh. You screwed up royally. Are you that tyrannical about other things???

Buy some baby wipes for your bottom. They do a better job and are more comfortable than any of your favored TP brands. Hopefully they will improve your outlook on life and make your bottom - and you - easier to live with. ;-)

Seriously?!?!?!?!?! You went overboard...I would have shrugged and walked out of the room too and I have CD and know how vital good TP is but you were clearly out of line! Actually I probably would have ripped you a new one for your rant if I was your wife.

I would have said something about it. Something along the lines of "Oh, I usually get Charmin Ultra Soft because it's not so hard on my ass." and then asked her to get my brand next time. In fact, that's almost exactly what I did with my parents when I was first diagnosed. Now they don't get anything else because they like it, too. But a half an hour is a bit much. I mean, I know how much it sucks not to have your brand of TP, but come on. Just use more squares and fold them over. That's what I do in public restrooms, and I laugh at their pitiful attempts to save money! Skimp on me, will you? WELL I WIPE MY BUM WITH YOUR SAVINGS MUAHAHAHA


just remember it's ok to laugh at cheap companies, but not cheap family.

I am going with the concept that your "tirade" was just really a non confrontational rant more like a monologue or a soliloquy.  I am hoping you were just expressing your desires for one over the other rather than berating someone for this.

That said...hubby has brought home a different kind of TP several times...I just ask him if he could get the other brand.  He even gave me Aloe TP for Valentines day one year!

Anyone notice that Cottenelle has changed recently?  It smelled like popcorn and was more flimsy than it used to be...I just switched to Charmin and hubby is rolling with the new choice..hey I'm just glad he goes to the grocery store instead of me sometimes.

Havn't been diagnosed with cd yet. Gastroenterologist still testing me. 

  But I do know that being a caretaker weighs heavily, mentally and physically, on our love ones.  I took care of my parents for over 10 years and my Mother died in March of 2011 and my Dad followed in June

As much as we love and care about our family, we are still human and will forget very important information that will keep the sick comfortable. 

 I know that I forgot a lot.  They were so greatful that I was there, these errors were excused.  Let's be kind to each other.  My husband is precious, priceless and make mistakes.
