What kind of pain? Where is the pain? Is it cramping pain that goes away after the BM? Is it in the abdomen? Is it a burning pain in the canal or around the anus?
Sorry for the direct questions, but there are a lot of folks here who have had a variety of pain. If you can help localize the area and describe the type of pain, I think that would help someone who has experienced your specific issues relate & share their experience.
One thing that has helped me, in general, when I'm having a flare and bouts of any type of pain anywhere in the GI tract, is to really soften my diet. I avoid raw fruits and veggies. Most fruits and veggies, actually. Citrus juices irritate my GI tract. I avoid beef, high fiber foods, and deep fried foods. I've occassionally gone on a liquid, or mostly liquid diet for a day+. I have replaced calories in my diet with Ensure or Boost drinks. These sort of changes reduces the amount of solid food in the GI tract, and can give your bowels/anus a chance to rest or at least work less.
