pregnancy and crohns - what medication did you take while your were pregnant????

My husband and I are meeting with my GI on Monday... we are going to talk about what medication to take during pregnancy.  This is my 2nd pregnancy - my 1st, I was on humira.  I have recently went off of humira because it was causing my BP to rise.  Looking forward to you responses.

We have had several moms that have had one or more Remicade babies. Also a couple Humira babies...

My hubby and I decided to try and have a baby just two months ago. I've had Crohn's for 11 years and I'm currently on Imuran (200 mg) and Humira (also Wellbutrin). All of my doctors agreed that staying on all three would not pose a significant risk and the benefits of staying on them would outweigh any small risk. My awesome GI doc said he's had lots of patients stay on Imuran and in 20 years, he hasn't seen one negative outcome of staying on it. Good luck!

My GI doc also said that 1/3 of women's Crohn's get worse when pregnant, 1/3 get better, and 1/3 stay the same. Anybody out there experience change in symptoms or pain while pregnant or breastfeeding?

I was on Humira throughout my pregnancy. I am now on Remicade and will probably be trying for baby #2 in the next few months. I was in remission when getting pregnany with my first and am not so much in remission now - so we'll see how this pregnancy goes.

I've taken all my meds while pregnant. With kids #1&2 - I took remicade 10mg/kg every 5 weeks with #1 and every 8 weeks with #2, prednisone - varying doses 5mg-20mg/day, omeprazole 40mg/day, asacol 1600mg 2x/day. With #3 I switched from remicade to humira after the 1st trimester because the remicade wasn't helping me anymore.

All 3 kiddos born healthy and happy. Oldest is now 9 and youngest is 4. Smart kids. No physical, mental, or emotional problems. I am blessed. Hope your pregnancy goes well and you find what meds work well for you!

I have Humira twins. Everything went great and the girls are healthy 8month olds.

I was only on Colazal during my pregnancy. I was one of the unlucky ones who got worse during pregnancy, then much much worse after birth. Now Colazal isn't cutting it so I'm on 6MP. We want to try for baby #2 in the next year or so, so I will need to figure out what medications are safe and what I feel comfortable exposing the baby too. Sounds like Humira is a popular choice for pregnancy.
