I'm sick of staying indoors and feeling down!
I've been making scd friendly meals and made some scd almond flour muffins today.
I never baked or cook before developing IBD and fyi, I failed... it came out like as a giant
cookie Lol
I'm a typical guy, turning 24 soon, supposed to be at grad school.
how do you spend your days when flaring? It's not like I need to sleep 24/7, I'm just overwhelmed by the thought that I should be doing something instead.
I don't want to watch movies all day and don't feel like reading all day.
So what do you guys do?

I guess one thing you could do with your time is practice GF baking, LOL.

Are you enrolled in graduate school? Can you possibly take an online class? I hate that tired, useless feeling when I 'm in a major flare, and I do feel like I waste a lot of time during those periods. See if you can come up with ideas where you are using your brain instead of your body. sorry you are having a rough time!

Sit outside, take short walks, go visit family (my family lives very close to me). I've also gone to the library, picked out a book and picked a table near the bathroom and read a few chapters (library is also close to where I live). I've found "de-cluttering" a closet, junk drawer can also make me feel productive.
Best of luck and hope you mend quickly!

My first major flare (freshman in college), I learned how to play the guitar while I recovered. It took lots of time, was so absorbing that it distracted me from my pain, and it gave me an artistic outlet (plus it didn't hurt with the ladies ;^). Now when I have flares, I try to write or play guitar (when I can sit up. When sitting is too much, I've been known to play my guitar while lying on my back).

will look into taking online courses, thanks. But my priority right now is getting my flare down while minimizing my expense as much as possible. I have no job, no insurance and a lot of things to pay out each month lol.
tom_t, I actually tried doing that and gave up on mid way during my last flare. I think I will try again :D

I'm a grad student too. Sometimes I set up a little office in the bathroom. I've taken up photography because on good days I can go for a hike and take pics and when I'm not well, I can work on editing them.

Another thing I love to do when I'm stuck inside not feeling well- I go online and plan out a day trip or vacation I'd like to go on sometime when I'm feeling well. Even if you never end up going, it's relaxing to think about
where you would go and what you'd do on the trip.
