Feet & Hands?

I  in a bit of a flare. Been in one for just about 1 month, but its getting better. I was at about 15-18 BM a day, now down to about 6-8. Through this flare, my fingers are sore, and my right foot has some sort of rash like thing going on. I have had my fingers sore before, but this foot thing is new for me. It's only the right foot, left one is fine. Anyone ever have anything like this before?

If they are short lasting rashes photograph them, if not still take pictures. When you go to your GI you have documented your complaint be sure to note the dates of the pictures. This way if the rash is gone at appointment time, you still can show them the pictures. It eliminates the "You don't look sick" remarks.

The pain in the fingers, joints or muscle? That can be from the Crohns.

How old are you? How much do you use your fingers as in knitting, sewing, cross-stitching, gardening, painting, etc? Depending on age, you might be developing osteoarthritis which is quite common as people age. Mine started in my fingers when I was 38.

Hi sod...I am 47 and have wicked knuckle pain (and other joints). Going to see a rheumatologist next month for the first time...it just got that bad that I decided I didn't want it ruining daily life any more.

As for the rash, I tend show a lot of my flare issues in my skin. I do agree with the picture idea as it makes it easier to explain the issue to docs. You may want to ask about if you are reacting to any meds or if this is a side effect of the CD. I have had a swelling rash multiple times and it had gone away several times with a combo of pepcid/claritin, but I have had to be given prednisone on occassion too. Can't hurt to ask your doc on this one.

Well my GI checked my foot out and said sometimes outbreaks like that happen during a flare. He added ucires for the next 8 weeks. He also told me that the next time I get into a bad flare like this again, that I need to start thinking about going on Humeria, and that kind of freaks me out a bit. The rash thing on my foot is about 85% cleared up since the uciris, and my flare is about 95% better now. No blood, and only 2-3 BM's a day.
