I have had crohns for over 30 years and have 5 strictures. I have been put on humira. How long does it take before it works? Thanks! Sue

Supposed tobe less than 2 weeks till relief and full benefits in 2 months or less. if I ever get mine started I can let you know

I started noticing a difference after the first set of shots. It seemed to get even better once I was done with my initial start up shots. My doctor was surprised I had so much improvement so fast though. He said it can take up to 3 months before you can see the full effect.

I've been on it about 2 months now.

The nurse at my GI's office said that you usually see some benefits after the first dose, but won't see the full effect until about a week after your third dose (i.e. a week after your first "regular" dose). I didn't notice much of a difference after the first set of shots (was in a little less pain), but was feeling MUCH better almost immediately after the second set of shots.

Tomorrow Is a week now for me and no relief yet i have not been in crazy bad pain so far yet so maybe it is the Humira but I think it is just coincidence but I am hoping something finally helps

I just did my second round this past Friday and the only difference I have really noticed is a slight decrease in pain. I have gone from 3-4 pain pills a day to 2-3 a day. I continue to have blood in my stools and have severe sensitivities to food (although that may not be a valid symptom). My doctors told me we would notice a difference within 1-2 weeks, but all of them, including myself were not optimistic it would work since I did not respond to Remicade (they cant diagnose me UC or CD- still pending more testing).

I hope it works for you. Just a warning- the medicine itself does burn as its going in. An ice pack helps after :)

I have been on Humira for 3 years and it really did change my life.  My fistulas are much improved and no new ones.  Just be aware of side affects and I must say I don't find the actual injection hurts much at all.  B12 shots are worse.  Good luck
