Red face every time I am outside

Every time I am outside for any length of time at all, I get a red rash on my checks as forehead. I do not get it anywhere else on my body, just my face. I am always careful to use sunscreen even when it is cloudy out. Nothing seems to help. It also happens when I do any kind of exercise.

I have Crohn's and I am currently taking Humira, Imuran, and Entocort. I know that is quite a bit of medication, but my Crohn's seems to be mostly under control right now. I have had Crohn's for almost 25 years.

I am not sure if it is a reaction due to my Humira or Imuran. I would suspect it is one of these, but not sure which one. Other than that, I have not had any other reactions to the medicines and have a good time tolerating them.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would suspect the Humira. It can cause people to develop anti-dsDNA antibodies. Most often these antibodies do not cause any symptoms. In some they can cause drug-induced lupus [DILE]. Since this is the only sign you have, I would just make sure to tell your prescribing doctor at your next appointment.. Should you develop low grade fevers, fatigue, or joint pain with swelling, then get a hold of him/her sooner so you can be checked out.

Try wearing a hat that shields your face when you are out. I have to wear one whenever it is sunny.

I had the same thing it was the start of much worse side effects of imuran for me. If you experience any severe abdominal pain stop the imuran I did against what dr said and 3 days my pain was mostly gone again but other things taking much longer

I would suspect the meds at first and start asking your doc. But I am not on any of those meds and I ahve had the burning rash like feeling on my face come about for years. It happens with exertion or just randomly. I have not noticed outside as a trigger. I did find out that salicylates seemed to trigger it....have you been eating anything with that in it (soda pop was a big one for me, there are lists oin the internet) or it may be in your meds (it is in my pentasa apparently)
