Going to a dietician sounds good, but for us it might not make much sense. Let me explain.
Low Fodmap, is about limiting fodmaps. I forget but onions and garlic are to be avoided.
SCD is about gut bacteria and onions and garlic are fine (if they agree with you)
Low Res is about limiting fiber so white bread is ok, but SCD this is 100% forbidden.
If you go to a dietician, they hopefully have read at least as much as you and will bring their bias to everything they tell you. They may guide you compliant with a recognized CD healing diet, or they may think they know best. In any case, it is 100% the luck of the draw.
As there is no one diet accepted by all as the single answer, I still say you need to do your own research and make your own decision. Then you need to figure out how to make your decision work for you. If you think you need a dietician then you will need a FodMap dietician, or a SCD dietician. But if you are going to do what the dietician says anyways, then no need to do the research. I can tell you for a fact, that SCD does not need a dietician, even a SCD dietician as there is so much active support and available information. I also know this to be true for FodMap and Gaps. I would expect the same for the other diets, but can not say from personal experience.
As there is so much diversity of opinion, there is no way I would trust a random stranger with my health re diet. I still think you need to figure it out for you, then decide if what support you need.
BTW - I went SCD 4 years ago and after just having a pill cam and colonoscopy, I am 100% healed. Not one ulcer to be found and nothing showing up in biopsies.
Hope you find a path that works for you
