Fistula Plug......ANY sucess stories??

Hello folks...
Like many of you, I too have been lurking around here for quite a bit...thinking...ehh I'll get this fistula healed..
Well..yeah...I wont bore you with my story as it is prob similar to yours...several misdiagnoses, several surgeries and now years later..yadda yadda..the fistula plug. I will quickly say that I had every test possible for Crohns and they deemed me as seeing Crohns..but not ready to diagnose me with it. This fistula "doesnt seem to be from Crohns" is what my CRS finally diagnosed. I had a seton in for 3 months than fell out and they rushed me in for the fistula plug 3 weeks ago.
My question is...has ANY had the fistula plug surgery and HAD success? It is looking less and less like this is even possible. Every blog, every forum, they all say the same. They waste three weeks in bed only for the thing to fall out. I am on week three and have almost lost all hope. The past three days pieces of the plug have been shedding off day by day. My tissue on the exterior opening is now getting thick are scared.

I attempted to head back to work and that was a disaster. Fever, chills, call to the dr orders me another week in bed.
So..is this "shedding" of the plug normal? Is the pain on the other side of my perineum indeed residual or yet another one of these dreaded things?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I had two fistual plugs installed in 2007 and both fell out after two weeks. They then reinstalled the setons in my rectal fistulas. 

I healed both my fistulasin 7 months by changing my diet to the SCD diet.

I have one fistula draining right between my buttcheeks. My doctor drained it and put me on antibiotics, which didn't help much, so I had the Fistula plug surgery a few days ago.

The first two days were the most horrible pain I've ever had, beyond my imagination. I was popping vicodin every 4 hours, though i stopped as soon as i could because vicodin causes constipation and i was advised not to strain or take laxatives, only stool softeners.
I've mostly stuck to a full liquid diet, the thought of eating just repulsed and scared me.
The most uncomfortable part was the dressing the surgeon had pretty much plugged me up with--all cotton. After 2 day it finally came out!
I'm still healing and have a long way to go but i wanted to share some tips on how to heal through tis if you end up having the surgery:

- Make sure you have a good surgeon. get a recommendation. explore other options.
- Stick to a liquid diet until the bowel pains go away. I'm doing protein shakes and jello a lot.
- Have the doctor give you a tube of lidocaine gel/ointment for post-op. IT HELPS!
- Do sitz baths often. do one before a bowel movement --> apply lidocaine liberally (this will help with bowel related pain) with a sterile q-tip--> have bowel movement --> jump in the shower and clean well with cold water, cold as you can tolerate --> pat dry and apply lidocaine again
- Ice in between Sitz baths
- A homeopathic remedy I've also bee using: Ghee. One tablespoon 2-3x a day. I think it tastes gross so i've been taking it with some honey. Ends up tasting like caramel. I feel it helps lubricate everything on the inside.
- invest in a donut cushion, it'll be your bff
