Well its that time of the year to get flu shots. Especially anybody
whom is doing an Anti TNF Blocker Meds. It is recommend by Gi doctors that we get the shot.

Its safe to take while on biologics?
I swear I was told not to take it while on infliximab...?

Yes it's safe. I have been getting the flu shot for many years since
when I started doing biologics.

Even if I'm on azathioprine too? Huh I wonder why I was told otherwise!

Yes I get the shot. novice I would check with your GI doctor
first. I am on a TNF blocker.

Right now I'm on Humira and my GI wanted me to get the Flu Shot for sure. I just got it the other day, along with my son. My hubby will get his in a week at work. Need all the protection I can get!

last yr I got my flu shot but STILL managed to catch the flu 3x so I had to drop out of school >.< no more working or school during flu season for me, plus this time I'm concerned since I'm currently 5 1/2 months preggers =/

The funny thing, when I was on prednisone for years for the most part the flu shot would work! Since I've been off pred for 2 years, the flu shot no longer works or hasn't stopped flus and viruses for me in the past 2 years. So for me, prednisone seemed to be a better immune booster than some of the other drugs the doctor put me on.

Is a flu shot recommended even if you aren't on drugs?

Yes...don't get the flu mist, but get the shot with the inactivated virus. I had mine a few weeks ago and had no side effects. The flu shot won't prevent all strains of flu, but I hate getting sick and if it helps it is certainly worth it!!

My family dr. always tells me to get the shot regardless of my medications. I have to admit I miss some years but I try not to since I have an asthma patient in my household.

i dont really see the point in getting the flu shot cus everyone i know whos got it still got the flu...i'v had crohns three years and my Doc never said anything about it.

The point is that the flu is miserable and the shot, at least for me caused no side effects. Why not try to avoid some strains of flu, and the high fevers, missed work and general misery that goes with it???
