Is there any connection between low T and Crohn's?

I can't seem to find anything, but has anyone heard anything? I did spend 9 months on prednisone, but that was back in 2010-2011. Now only imuran (100mg).


As a 23 year old male my Test seems to be pretty low.

264
Normal range: [300-1000]

So basically I'm on 80+ year old levels when I should be in my prime.

I'm curious to know if there is a connection either to the disease itself or medicine as I don't have any other issues.

I think having one autoimmune disease makes you more likely to develop another, and a subfertility issue (assuming your sperm count is low due to your low T - you should get your FSH and LH checked as well) might be an autoimmune dysfunction. The endocrine system is poorly understood and even having all this information does not make it easier to solve.

It might also be true that your Crohn's has left you malnourished in ways that make your endocrine system slow down reproductive functions.

I do not think that having low T is a cause of Crohn's.

I'd say it was the opposite in my case. The UC/inflammation was causing low T. I supplemented for about a year, and when my UC was under better control, weaned off the gel. My T returned to normal.
