Cymbalta? anyone tried it?

Hi everyone. Have any of you tried cymbalta or another med that is approved for pain and anxiety/deppression? I am thinking about asking my family dr because my stomach pain combined with my leg pain combined with my nerves makes me wonder if I am a good canidate.

I think you might have heard a little different. I believe that the cymbalta is more for neuroliogical pain I guess its called. Like the leg pain you feel, no stomach pain. I was on it a couple years back and honestly it didnt help my fibro the least bit, and also caused my Crohns to have what I would consider a mini flare. Also causing really bad stomach pains, which is the opposite of what you'd want.

I only use Xanax on occasion for my anxiety. I know it really helps when I am stressed and my guts start acting up, but I don't think it does much for the pain elsewhere. I would talk to your doc and see what he can offer.

I was given Cymbalta during a shingles bout. I can't say that it did much good for the shingles. But neither do I remember that it caused any Crohn's problems.

I have been on Cymbalta since April for anxiety and I love it! I don't have any problems with it!

Insagent....how to you rate the cymbalta? Do you think it helps with pain as well as anxiety? Nanners....I have .5 mg of Xanax that I take as needed. I was only taking about five a mo, however the last few mo.s it has been more like twenty a mo. I would like to stay off endocort and am almost there. I have one more week and then I will be endocort free. Of course last time my SED rate went up to 75 and I was hurting so bad. I am positive this time will be different!

I def give it a 10 for the anxiety! I have tried a few different kinds and this one helped me without making me feel like a zombie! Of course the first week or two I felt a little nauseated at times and didn't have any appetite, but that got better quickly. It's hard to say about the pain because I wasn't having any before taking it. You would probably have to ask someone of the Fibro board that question.

Hi, I love Cymbalta. I was originally put on Cymbalta for anxiety and depression etc. that I suffer as a 30 year Crohns and Colitis person. I began with a dose of 30 mgs. Quickly my Ryumi. raised it to 60mgs. after he discovered that I had Fibromyalgia. And then, surprise, surprise! alone comes Crohns Arthritis and he experiments with 90mgs. which is pretty much a no-no. I have had absolutely no side effects and the drug keeps my moods stable. There is no telling about the aches and pains from the Fibro because the arthritis has pretty much taken over my life. I have done aqua therapy and I was working out every day but the pain keeps me from doing that each day but I do do that on the good days. The Rumicade stopped working 8 weeks ago and today the GI gave me 6MP and tomorrow I am to start Cimiza. I am a real mess BUT not because of the Cybalta. 3 * for the Cymbalta.

Had to register just to chime in here. I started Cymbalta yesterday. Aside from feeling high on it last night, I feel much better regarding anxiety/depression already. I know its not a placebo affect because of how extreme the difference is. I also have crohns and am on Humira. I felt better today more than I have in years, and am having regular bowel mvmnts. Amazing. Yes one day in but already is really a huge difference. Everyone reacts to meds differently. I wouldn't decide based on one persons experience. And I would recommend giving it a try as I was actually pretty resistant when I got the Rx. Glad I said "what the hell let's try it."

I was prescribed it for my crohns pain and I didnt notice any difference what so ever. It just took my appetite away completely so I stopped taking it.

It didn't do much for my pain but did help with depression. When I tapered off it, I suddenly became suicidal and uncontrollable. I had to go back on it at twice the dosage (doctor instructed) and do a taper that took over a year. It took over two years before I finally got away from what it did to me.

This could have been caused by a drug interaction since I was on several meds while taking it. Most of us here are. It does list "impulsivity" as a possible side effect.

I know most people don't have this drastic a side effect, but it happened. Other people I personally know take it without any problems.

I tried cymbalta a few years back when I was desperate for anything to help with pain. At the time my symptoms were under control with other meds but I still had constant pain and the many doctors I went to didn't know why. I have always had some anxiety and it is the biggest trigger for me so I thought it would be worth a shot. I think I remember doctor saying it worked for nerve pain mostly. He was able to give me a few sample packs to try. I didn't notice much difference good or bad when I took it but sure did when the sample packs ran out. I remember having bad headaches and very emotional. I didn't like the idea of adding another med that I would b Dependant on when benefits weren't that great. I have found a low dose of xanax just as needed helps calm me and my stomach down.
