here is a laugh for you all!

Yeah, I always get a kick out of people who complain about how they are feeling so bad from a stomach bug or some other minor illness. They stay home from work and talk about how awful it is. Try feeling that way every single day. My wife always tells me, if you don't feel well why don't you take the day off and rest? Well, if I stayed home whenever I felt bad I would never leave the house.

Funny! I get the exact opposite from my family. My sister got a stomach bug with D, cramping the whole bit and she asked me how the heck do you deal with this daily?? It have her a whole new respect for what I go thru. I do find I tend to be less sympathetic with people who catch a bug which is probably not a good thing. But I can't help but think really? Suck it up. That's what I do.

That is awful how people are so selfish...one of my friends came to the hospital to see me and said "I don't think i will ever complain about headaches ever again!" and that was sweet of her, it made me feel kinda better. But when I see people complaining that they have the flu, cramps, headaches...things that will go away even without needing to pop an advil..it just makes me crazy! I mean, I go to the bathroom every morning and I don't know what to expect or how it will be 3 days from now...I am always waiting for "my personal flu" to come along.
People just piss me off sometimes and they don't even ask how I am doing for real, except for when I go to church where I feel like people really care.

Remicade helped me a lot. 3 days after I took it I left the hospital! It was amazing for me. I haven't taken any since, it had been over a month, my doc thinks I may not need it and I can just stay on the pills, but we will see. But the experience with Remicade was great, I hope it works for you. I've heard it may take a while to work on some people, I hope you can see some relief in 24 hours like I did.

i really don't know the dosage, I think it is 5 for every pound you weight...but I was very sick at the hospital on that day and they only asked me to make a decision on whether I wanted it or not, so, Idk specifics at all. They talked about 6mp, but they also said it takes 2 weeks to work, and I wasn't getting any better to leave the hospital and start 6mp. I didn't have surgery, they just couldn't figure out what to do to get me better. It was ridiculous, honestly, I will never go to my local hospital again, it was absurd that they could have gotten me out of there in 4 days and i had to stay 31....yes..i had stayed 27, but before that i had stayed another 4-5 days on the week before.
It was just a load of crap, repeating tests, and things that were so useless. I had 3 colonoscopies and 2 endocopies, which led to pancratitis. I am amazed at how I didn't get any infections at the hospital, it was filthy.
Well, as of now, I am just on pills, no biologics, but I think I will definitely need them, but my doc it traveling for x-mas, so I am hoping i wont get any weird symptoms until January.

There is something you can take to resist building antibodies to Remicade? Are you kidding ? grrr Wish I knew before having to watch my daughter go into anaphylaxis shock before taking her off it! Wonder if its the same for Humira? Time to troll the internet until the doctors office opens

She had multiple reactions to Remicade. The first 4 months were fine. Things were going well. Feeling very positive about the effects of Remicade. Then bathroom trips started to increase again and her vomiting came back. (she has crohns in bowel & esophagus). Doc uped her frequency from every 6 weeks to every 4 weeks. After about the 2nd time she started to get very nauseous and light headed, tightness in chest, felt like she couldn't breathe during the 1st hour of the infusion and then throughout the infusion (they also slowed down the rate turning a 4 hr infusion to a 6 hr infusion). They uped her premeds (more benydrl, Tylenol, gravol) in hopes it would clear up. Every dosage her reactions kept getting worse to the point she was vomiting during the infusions.

Her 2nd to last infusion she got real sick and I freaked out with the doctor overseeing the clinic administering the drug that maybe she was having an allergic reaction and he told me it was nothing to worry about, it happens from time to time. I made sure the nurse wrote everything in her chart & faxed it to her GI, not a summary like they normally do. Her GI thought it was an allergic reaction based upon what the notes said & I said and ordered a blood test to be sure. Her last infusion she received she actually vomited numerous times, had hives from head to toe, stopped breathing and that was with massive premeds. The doc at the clinic wanted her to finish the meds, I refused. After that we got the bloodwork back to show she had built up the antibodies against the drug. Her GI thinks if we didn't get that test done and if we finished the dosage it could have been fatal.

My daughter had a similar reaction to penicillin too, but much worse when she was 2 1/2. I think if the clinic & the GI communicated better & I better understood what was going on it wouldn't have gotten to the point it did. I trusted the clinic doctor that her reactions weren't allergy based (which I asked), and because I didn't see hives I didn't know. The last infusion there was no hiding it. Best $250 I spent on a test.

Humira we are doing the first 3 times in a doctors office to monitor her for an allergic reaction. I am not taking any chances even though it is unlikely she will have a reaction.

Both my daughter & I always felt so bad this would happen around someone new to the infusion. It can be kind of scary to watch. Remember there are lots of people that do well on Remicade with no issues. Odds are you won't have any problems.
