how worse can it get,, will they ever find a cure??

Man this is a rough disease and sends us all through hell & back. DONT GIVE UP!

Have they tried different combo drugs? Remicade crashed and burned for my kid. We are now trying Humira & Methotrexate in combo together. Many doctors seem to be positive with that combination. Don't get too in depth on the side effects. Reading those in depth will cause a psychotic episode I am convinced. I read them thinking this is someone else I don't know taking them because side effects or not my kid has no choice right now.

Do your best to stay active. I am convinced it helps you physically as well as mentally. And when this disease doesn't rule your life you are going to want to enjoy it!

Reach out to close friends & family who get this. We are currently signed up for a support group which restarts in January. If you don't have that option there are online support as well. Feel free to vent here! We all will try to help where we can.

I know it feels this way, but I promise you that what you're going through is not a punishment from God. This is something that I've thought and pondered on a lot since getting sick. I've given up a career and in the past 4 months since I've had my first child, been hospitalized twice, which has really upset my infant who doesn't understand why Mommy isn't around.

I write a blog to express my feelings about this at times. If you're interested, here are a couple of posts about it my experience walking through finding faith through all of this.

I am not trying to push this on you at all. I just know how it feels to feel like God has abandoned you during the dark times. But I promise you that He hasn't.

BkzbOy. Don't give up hope. I was officially diagnosed with Crohns in April. I have been in the hopsital 3 times for 25 days. I have had bowel issues for years I finally got so sick my family had to pretty much force me to go. I thought it would be a breeze. Get meds and go home. It wasn't like that. I started on the slow end of the drugs. That didn't work so went up to 6MP. That was a huge mistake. It made me very sick. Ended up having my gall bladder removed and my liver became toxic from it. I didn't know it at the time but surgery for the gall bladder was delayed 12 days. The surgeon didn't think I could survive a surgery. I didn't know how close to dying I was. I finally got released to go home. With in 3 weeks I was back in the hospital. Had C-Diff that time. C-Diff is a ***** to have. Very painful I started on humira iin October. So far it's working great for me. I read all I could find on Humira. Yes, some of it scares me. My family and I sat down and talked about the pros and cons of Humira. For us the pros outweigh the cons. I was so miserable and hardly left my house. That's not the life I want. If I end up with cancer, hopefully not for many years, I at least had a very good life taking the Humira. . . . Sorry for rambling on here. Don't give up an let Crohns win. I'm sure not. :). As I say every DAY I HATE CROHNS!!!!!!!

I was diagnosed with Crohn's after almost dying from the disease at age 14 (I'm now 35). It was discovered during a (last result) emergency surgery that took place after 1year of suffering with it. I had a colon resection as a result of complete blockage. At this time, I took prednisone for 2 weeks and was free of meds from that point on. Again, after 10 years (age 24) I began suffering and had another portion of my colon removed after suffering on and off for 3 months. After surgery this time, the doctor suggested meds (Prednisone for the rest of my life and Remicade Infusions). Well I decided to use the Prednisone for 3 months and decided and I didn't like it. My doctor and I had a huge blow out in his office and the only thing I decided to take... was to take care of me.

Since age 24 no meds, no colonoscopies, no doctors... I've been fine up until this year. I've been feeling sick with pain on and off since about August 2013 and schedule to have a Colonoscopy. I started losing weight (literally a pound a day), no appetite, nausea ALL DAY, stressed, anxiety attacks, constipation & diarrhea at the same time. But Before the colonoscopy... I changed my diet again and have never felt BETTER in my life mentally or physically. I removed the caffeine (coffee) from my diet (THIS WAS A HUGE PLUS - though the 2week side effects sucked) I began drinking coffee a year ago 16-36oz/day, I also removed the foods high in MSG (This stuff causes anxiety, depression, and hopelessness which leads to Stress and then Crohns flair up.). Fatty Foods were also removed. I also added the following to my diet:
ALOE WATER (A MUST) (1st thing to go down my throat in the A.M and last in the P.M.)
GINGER LEMON Tea (Caffeine Free) (no added sugars etc..) (While drinking the Aloe Water, I would boil the water for the Tea) (2nd thing to go down my throat in the A.M.)
Sleepytime Extra (Relaxes me straight to sleep- (Last thing to go down in the PM. about 3-4 times a week)
Yogurts, apples, apple juice, (All healthy snacks)

I had my Colonoscopy done on yesterday 12/4/2013 and the doc found no disease, abscess, polyps, cancer, etc... (after he told me at my pre-office visit that I can bet my last dollar he would find something no matter how big or small), my Doc literally has no bedside manners. He say that there was some narrowing of the intestine right at the ileum and the colon but he probed gently with the scope and it popped right open. I still have to go for a GI Barium Series so that he can compare the narrowing to what he seen years ago. He also did a biopsy. Other than that, he said no meds, no treatment plans or anything until he see the results of the Barium test. He believe the biopsy would come back normal.

I hope I don't offend anyone when I say this.. but I believe it's the meds that causes the most of the problems in Crohn's. Anytime I take something over the counter... it messes with my stomach really bad for a couple of days. There is not one MED that agrees with my stomach. It all have cause me serious Crohns like symptoms. Antibiotics, Pain Killers, etc... But I thank GOD for HIS goodness, natural herbs, natural foods, wisdom and knowledge. Everything good is not from the Doctor it's from the earth. I asked the Lord to order my footsteps in the way I should go and he did just that. I was inspired to try natural remedies. Listen to your body. I believe Crohns have a underlying condition in everyone. I believe mine was stress and anxiety. See what's out there and what works for you!!
