Haven't posted since early 2012

Hello all, I doubt most of you remember me, but I'm the student from Kent State who has Crohn's Colitis. Last time I posted I was recovering from a flare that resulted in me losing half of my blood in one night and the development of fistulas which led to my diagnosis being changed from UC to Crohn's Colitis.

Today I underwent my third surgery to install a new seton. Since 2012 I haven't had bleeding and my stools haven't been lose, but they haven't been formed either. That's the closest I'll ever get to remission with our currently available Crohn's drugs. My biggest struggle since then has most certainly been fistulas. Today I had a mental break down after my surgery because the latter half of 2013 has been very unkind for me. I was due to graduate this coming spring, but due to a short flare up and constant struggle with fistulas, I had to drop my semester in October and came home in NJ to focus on getting better. The reason I had the mental break down was because I realized I'm running out of options for treatments. The only medication I haven't tried yet is Cimzia. I'm seeing a local GI here at home on December 30th to see my treatment options. I'll weigh my options and go from there.

I got to thinking about how amazing you guys have been to with support and advice and I just really missed all of you. I just wanted to update all of you and see how the rest of you are doing.

One question I have for you guys is have any of heard of any new breakthroughs with new medications or anything at all? I haven't had time to get around to looking for new medications on the brink of being released. Truthfully, I think I gave up looking because research and new medications are so far and between. Has that changed in the almost 2 years I haven't posted on here?

Thanks Kazbern! I need to update my signature actually. I haven't been on Humira since August because it didn't improve my condition at all and I started developing rashes on my face. So I stopped it immediately.

If you don't mind jogging my memory, what is SCD again? Is it a diet?

I posted this last week about a new med that looks like it will be approved for Crohn's.
