I have lost two jobs because of the illness one in 2005 and one in 2006. The problem with each is although I had a valid medical excuse I had signed a contract with each call center. Long story short I broke the contract and it was my decision to sign it Vs looking for another job. I don't really read those things to close to be honest. I did manage to get Employment insurance after the first dismissal however. The first place I had worked for for 3.5 years or so ! and before they got bough out by a new firm they were golden to me in 2003 my 2nd year. I missed loads of time including a 2.5 months absence due to admission to hospital and surgery etc . They were always really concerned and accommodating once the other company took over we had new contracts. I only missed over a year 12 days. They told me I had 24 hours to get a note and take a leave of absence I Kinda have a bad temper so I told them to fluff off and they fired me on the spot :P Cause the bottom line was I was always going to have this risk of missing time, it wasn't like after a leave I would be all better forever.
