Gave in and quit my job

Just couldn't do it anymore, I gave up/ gave in and quit my job. I've had a little over a week off and I feel so tired all day. I just can't believe how I was making it working. I feel like I gave up but staying home I see just how bad I really was/am. My Gi doc is sending me to a research hospital to figure out my weight loss problem.

Sometimes we have to do everything we can to put ourselves first.
I hope by having some rest and seeing the research hospital, will get you into a better place.

You need to take care of yourself, and my guess is that you are probably doing the right thing. I hope your doc can come up with a decent treatment plan and you can go back to work in the future. Sending hugs and healing thoughts your way!

My heart goes out to each and everyone one of you! I too resigned from my job as a practice nurse in UK, Im 41.It was a hard descision as I loved it- nursing is my passion. I try to remember no matter how hard the night is the sun will shine in the morning!! and one day I will return to nursing I hope!!!xxxx

I know how you feel - I had to stop working all together and go on SS disability - took me 1 1/2 years to get it but I am so glad that I did! There is NO way I can go back and deal with stress and pressure of a job and deal with this disease. Look in to disability option.

I just joined this site 3 min ago and found this topic. I made the decision on Friday to go on medical leave. i didn't quit but i don't think I will be returning. i was dx in July 2011 and have been struggling with Cohn's ever since. I also have Fibromyalgia and interstitial cystitis which keep me in pain. But the rectal bleeding has increased and I'm terrified. I'm 44 and have been a nurse for 18 years I started having gastric problems in my 20s hiatel hernia and gerd but I changed my diet and was fine until 2004 when I had mysterious abd pain unexplained at the time then in 2007 it returned with constipation . Had my gallbladder removed and felt better until I got c-diff after taking a course of antibiotics and being around an unisolated patient in Jan 2010. My whole life changed in 2010 I developed IBS-C and severe abd bloating and pain. was placed on amitiza and was able to manage for a while. Switched to a clinic setting where I thought it would be less stressful and safer and developed Crohn's disease in 2011. First it was mild but now its getting worse. I have tried asacol, and apriso but can not tolerate anything oral because of my IBS-C started Cimzia 2 weeks ago but no change in my symptoms. So tired of prednisone that makes me crazy. And my job seems to be penalizing me because of my illness even with my FMLA. So I decided to stop trying to fight and try to heal. I have no life all my kids are grown but after forcing myself to get up each day and work 8 hours or more all I want to do is get back in bed. and it takes all weekend to recuperate to go back on Monday and I still end up missing a day a week. I was told you don't see results from cimzia until after the 3rd dose, but I just want to feel better. My last colonoscopy says I still have ulcers in my transverse colon and my sed rate was 56 in January. I want to return to work someday but being in pain all the time takes its toll on you and tylenol does not work and I can't take Lortab while working. Just saying glad to here someone else made this decision and it helped.

I have had problems since I was about 20 years old and am now 52. I haven't had a lot of problems with weight loss but I struggle constantly with pain. I didn't get diagnosed with crohns until two years ago although I think I have had it since I was 20. I lived with my parents for the last few years because I was afraid to live alone since my kids where all grown and the pain would bring me to heart problems. My last major flare up caused me to also suffer a heart attack. Within the last two years I have lost both parents and have been trying to get disability for about two years my attorney said I needed and eviction notice to get it expedited. With loosing my parents I now have to find a way to pay bills but have been unable to work more than 4 to 9 hours per week and many times have to hold my paycheck till the company can get some money in. I do the books so know when they are negative in the account. up to this point my daughter was helping me but now I am losing that help as well. I am about to loose everything and my car needs repaired. I cannot find a job because I can only work when my pain allows. Everyday for one year all I could think about was dying because nothing seemed to help. I use heat to help control the pain I also take Hydrocodone 10/325 but half the time it does not work and when it does it only works for a short period of time. I have been through four GI doctors the only one who seemed to have a clue about crohns retired. Now I am being referred to Peoria where they have more experience. But no money for gas to make the trip and I don't trust my car to get there. I have seen a post that I cannot seem to find now about how some people do better with percoset but I am having a hard time getting my family doctor to give me anything other than the Hydrocodone. I would love to go back to work if I could get the pain under control and get rid of the depressing fatigue. I love hearing success stories it gives me hope and helps me to know what to ask for.
