I apologize if this has been brought up a million times before, but I have Crohns and my dr says its mild to moderate case. I am med free (knock on wood), and other than constipation for the most part I'm fairly normal. about a month ago, I remember eating brie cheese and thought nothing of it, had some watery diarrhea w/ stomach pain, and it continued off and on for a few weeks. I went to my GI for a normal checkup and he wanted to be on the safe side and take a blood test for infection. Everything came back fine except for low Iron/hemoglobin (hemo- 10.3). Shortly after the Doctor visit, the watery diarrhea was happening 3-4x a day and my stomach pains were kicking in every day. Finally last night I called my doctor and he said "no dairy at all". He also prescribed me antibiotics.
Its been about 60 hours since I've had any dairy and everything has returned to normal. No more funny noises coming from stomach and no pain. Is it possible that lactose intolerance can mimic a flare? The symptoms I was having felt ALOT like an infection I had a few years ago.
If anyone else has crohns and lactose intolerance, I would greatly appreciate some advice on this subject. I'm very sad I wont be able to have pizza anymore :(
