Even though there is more risk for you to get crohns if your mom has it, the risk is still low. Both my mom and I have it, but there are no other family members that we know of with the disease. If you want to decrease your chances make sure your vitamin D level is in a higher range, (search the Vitamin D Council), take probiotics and try to avoid unnessesary antibiotics. Is your mom on TPN? Has she considered trying a liquid meal replacement such as Vivonex or Ensure?
