You are a braver soul than I. I just can't get past the ummmmmm factor of it all, but I do hold out hope for it. I am really interested as I seem to have bacterial issues, but not the same as most others. I could not ask my husband to be a donor---we tease each other a lot as it is and I could not give him this softball to hit out of the park
As far as the insurance goes...(I have spent 20+ years in the health insurance world blech!)....from the start, ask the doc to put as much information on the approval request as possible. Include c diff and CD dxs, reoccurence frequency, any documentation of FDA approval of treatment. It is likely that this will go past the front line RN approval to the Medical Director for the insurance company. The more you give, the less they have to look up and that makes things more smooth.
You might also try to get in front of this by speaking to a Nurse/Case Manager at your insurance company--if they are a good one, they help to advocate for you. You can usually tell the good ones in the first 10 minutes of a call to them.
Hoping for the best outcomes and keep us up to date.
