Upper GI crohns

By upper GI Crohn's, do you mean GERD and gastroparesis, or are you talking about small bowel inflammation?

Sorry you're suffering so much Gaviscon. I had a lot of the same symptoms as you when I was diagnosed eight years ago. Has your GI talked about biologics with you (Remicade, Humira)? Many people have success with that. Are you taking probiotics? Many people are also able to reduce symptoms through diet changes. You will see many posts on the site about diets like SCD (specific carbohydrate diet) or low residue diet. The important thing is to figure out what foods make your symptoms worse, because this is different for everyone. It's also important to try to get as many nutrients in as possible without upsetting your intestines.

I wouldn't wait for them to suggest it - I would bring it up myself. That's way too long on steroids, especially since the meds don't seem to be working.

Also, where is your abdominal pain? There's a rare side effect of pancreatitis for imuran. A simple blood test of amylase and lipase can check it.

Ive found a good test to start with that I used (LABCORP) IBD EXPNADED PANEL - from laborp many gastros dont seem to run this test. They look to do the colonoscopy or endoscopy and biopsy. Which if your not diseased.. Celiac or crohns you get the IBS mark. Until you get infected --- you get stamped those two when they see Disease. Man y start out with problems that turn into these. For me I found
the following AMCA ,ALCA, ASCA ACCA. each mean something and a good place to start
there are many other antibody tests in CROHNS and the link above points you to answers if you know what someone has found for you.

Most docs treat for the over all disease finding what meds well help you and help you feel better.. ( some use certain drugs over others as thats what they like or use ) in all different drugs work for different people and different people have different problems

For me I found my GI really didnt search hard or did he have time.., his goal was to make me feel better with meds.. I did some digging For Me I was AMCA and ALCA with high antibodies. AMCA=CANDIDA and ALCA = SUGARS ......sugar feeds yeast.. when yeast are high good bacteria are low. When yeast are high and good bacteria are low.....you dont produce good chain fatty acids which help protect you and raise the PH so all these nasty things can grow.

SO I spent over a year treating that way... NO SUGAR and what to lower my yeast/FUGUS-canidda
Many research shows alot of CROHNS or colitis people with high ASCA or AMCA or more antibodies

They dont seem to look this way. I had alot of symptoms as well , ulcers, sweats , migraines , hemorrhoids- stomach problems night sweats and some yellow in the corners of my toe nails. I found that many with this disease have HIGH Clostrida species that are bad and over grown yeast. Which was my case

Im alot better now do to diet and treating that way for me it pointed to antifungals -- low sugar paleo diet to help me

Currently on omeprazole 160mg a day, ondasatron 16mg a day, ranitidine 600mg a day, azathioprine 150mg a day, prednisolone 40mg a day, adcal d3!

YOUR CROHNS could be from CANDIDA..... your lucky the found something at the hospital
YOU need to do this test... LABCORP --IBD EXPANDED PANEL (its the 5 antibody test (not the IBD panel 2 antibody check)

By doing this you can see if your have high antibodies to AMCA which is CANDIDA -- nothing you will learn from your GI.. I ve spent thousands of dollars and thousands of research hrs. You could also be reactive to ALCA which is sugars.. Sugars feed CANDIDA.

So when you feel better you might not be well.. even thou you think you are... heres my 2 years of testing my self.. I felt great after the second test... but I still was sick inside and didnt know it.
If a gastro runs this test - he will if your even lucky to find one that uses it , He will only run once

heres me today i took over a year in antibodies to control... again I felt fine in 4 months but internally I was not....A test I found thats under used for this Once I get all this fixed all my other crohns symptoms went away...nasal drip ...head aches , hemorrhoids etc etc

Thank you Guyfeelsgood for all the info, and definitely will take the test, I ll have my GI run this test for me, but one question, when u found out about this test and that you tested positive did you only had to take the CAPLYRIC acid pills to get rid of it, or your GI prescribed anything for you, please let me know and thank you for your info, I really appreciated
