Hi gaviscon, is kind of funny that I decided to enter today to the forum, I haven't been here in a while, but since last Thursday my Upper Gi crohn's has been bothering me, and I tell you that the post from guyfeelsgood is completely right, after I spend 1 month in the hospital with a huge battle trying to get the crohn's under control, I became very ill with vomiting and feeling the someone was chocking me from the inside, the drs decided to run more test and they found out that I suffer from esophageal candidiasis(yeast infections and bacteria grow) is cause by the crohn's disease it seems to be part of the disease, your immune system gets so down from all the medication that we have to take that is not strong enough to keep the good bacteria of our body under control, I was given a month worth of diflucan and Nyastatin to take because unfortunately this type of candidiasis will calm down from time to time but never gone, you will keep getting it when you have a crohns flare up.
I now know when Im getting candidiasis because my symptoms are, low grade fever, night sweats, cold and hot chills, my voice gets hoarse, nausea and vomiting, some abd pain and the worse of all I get problems swallowing food or fluids and I feel that I am getting chocked to death from the inside out, so when this happens I know to call my doctor and get diflucan and nyastatin because nothing else, no GERD meds, steroids, humira, remicade, azathioprine or cimzia will make it go away, I will suggest you to have your doctor to check for esophageal Candidiasis and get the right treatment, I have been dealing with Crohns dx since 2000 and it took the Doctores 5 years to give me a diagnosis.
I wish you luck on your next apt and relieve on you symptoms, I know how terrible it is to feel bad
GOD Bless
