cysts

  Hi  I wanted to know if any other CD patient also struggled with chronic painful cysts that could appear on the face, the sides and back of neck and in the groin area.  The dermatologist is treating with steroid injections, followed with antibiotics...have to change those drugs so body does not get used to same antibiotic - and sometimes oral prednisone.  The skin doctor is thinking next step is accutane...that drug scares me cause I heard it can cause CD! The cysts are large and contain greenish discharge and are very painful, especially if they are in all the areas at the same time.  Anyone else suffer from this? have any thoughts about accutane?  Thanks in Advance for any help....

Wow. I thought I was the only one with weird cysts. I never thought about them being Crohn's related, but perhaps they are. Mine are on my shoulder blades and back. Usually just unattractive bumps, until they get infected and swollen. Which is what recently happened. The dermatologist lanced it and squeezed the grossness out. Probably the worst pain I have experienced in recent memory. She told me that she would need to get the whole sac out or it will come back. Going in next week for her to finish that one (I couldn't take the pain any longer last time) and cut the other one out. Not looking forward to it, but it must be done. She told me they were probably hereditary and that they form in utero when your skin is forming and somehow "debris" gets trapped and forms cysts later in life. I don't care what they are, just want them gone !
