Hi Shannon,
Your story sounds quite familiar to mine actually. A little over ten years ago, I was at work when I started to have abdominal pain. Over the next day, it got worse and worse, coming in waves with greater frequency. I finally had to leave work (the next day) as I was basically doubled over at my desk in pain. I went straight to a doctor, who said I should go to the ER. I did a small bowel follow-through. They found nothing, so they sent me home after giving me a Nexium. Within another day or so, the pain subsided. This happened again, to a lesser degree later that year.
The following year, I started to become symptomatic with diarrhea, pain, and nausea. It would be in 2006 when I finally saw a GI and had the proper tests done to diagnose me with Crohn's. I'm pretty sure I had a partial obstruction back in 2004 based on the type of pain.
What I'm unclear about is how you have been waiting for months on your colonoscopy biopsies--they shouldn't take that long. I believe the longest I've waited is 2-3 weeks.
With the family history, there certainly is an increased likelihood that you have IBD, but I would call the doctor's office tomorrow and ask about the biopsy results.
I hope you can get some relief soon. In the meantime, can you take Immodium when you need to leave the house/be away from a toilet?
