Hi! Kind of a personal question, but at this point with Crohn's, I have no shame! I noticed after being diagnosed with Crohn's 7 years ago, that intercourse with my husband became painful. I told my gyno about this and she kept telling me it was in my head, that perhaps I should see a psychiatrist.
I finally switched drs last week and I was nervous that she may the same, but instead, she said that due to my going to the bathroom all the time and from "holding it in" in public until I can find a bathroom - that I've tightened the pelvic floor muscles so much that they are way larger/stronger than they ever should be, essentially causing sex to be very painful.
I wanted to share this for those who may have the same issues, but also to ask if I'm the only one? My dr told me she could refer me to a physical therapist for exercises to "relax" the muscle or that I can try on my own at home. She prescribed muscle relaxer for me to try.
Do any of you have issues? This may also cause pain in the lower back, abdomen and hips. For those that may have experienced this, what has helped to relax the muscles over time?
Thanks for reading! :)
