Humira

Hi Merrimaid,

If you do a search at the top of the page you will find tons of info on Humira. I have severe Crohn's (now an ileostomy with a total colectomy with removal or rectum as well in October) and was hopeful that Humira would help keep my Crohn's in check. Unfortunately, it's not working for me anymore. I am taking my last dose tomorrow before I have surgery to get it all removed.

I hope your son finds some relief with it. There are many people on the forum that have had success with it.

PS....don't be discouraged if you don't get many replies on the weekend.....the boards tend to be very quiet!

I've been using Humira since 2008 (I was 25 at the time) with good results. Prior to the Humira I had been on Remicade, 6MP, and several different mesalamine products. The Humira worked pretty quickly to get my disease in remission and I had no signs of disease for 2 years, and then I had only slight endoscopic appearance of Crohn's. I did pretty well for another 2 years and then had flares on and off for the past 2 years. I think they were triggered by the birth of my 2nd child. I ended up having a resection this past February and was put back on Humira after the surgery. I have not had any side effects while on Humira and the flares that I've had while on it have been treated with Entocort and flagyl. I know it is a difficult decision to make and hopefully you'll find all the info you need to help your son make it.
