MAP Vaccine

All of the sudden, I'm starting to see things about this supposed "cure" for Crohn's disease... However, it seems to always be followed by requests for funding. So I am curious, is this legit? I have not been able to find a trusted US source of info about whether this is a real, viable study!! Any info or sources would be appreciated! I plan to discuss with my doctor as well, but wanted a general public opinion/verification. Thanks!

I'm too lazy to read an article, but the idea behind the vaccine is to CURE crohns patients? Like they will be completely healthy?

Everything I find is out of Europe. That's all good and everything, and those videos and all of the articles sound extremely promising. I'd like to read about it from an accredited American source though. Only because it does me no good if it's not being researched or tested in my own country yet. I hate having my hopes up over something that might not be brought over here In time. Nothing is working for me yet. I'm supposed to start Entyvio soon, but I don't even know if I'll be able to afford that yet. And to risk everything on immunosuppressive drugs if there is a viable "cure", it's just frustrating. Like everyone else afflicted with this pain in the ass disease (figuratively and literally), I'm tired of drugs, pain, side effects, and quite frankly of just being tired!!

I know it's natural to be very cautious when it comes to anyone claiming to have a cure for any disease, but after perusing the Crohn's Vaccine website, it seems like the theory is pretty solid. They have links to many references, they've got people who have been researching this disease for decades, and they are not claiming that it IS a cure, but it strongly suggests that it can be a cure. I think that's an important distinction to make, because they are wanting an answer on the vaccine one way or another. They know its possible that the vaccine may not work, but they won't know until they try it. Many of the people on their team are Crohn's sufferers themselves. They also seem to be fairly transparent with what they will do with their funding and they aren't asking for millions of dollars or anything. All these factors together lead me to believe that this is a very genuine and realistic effort to try and cure Crohn's.

I have UC but I would be very interested to see Crohn's get cured. I will probably donate to their fund. Even if it doesn't end up working, at least then, we'll know.

That's the thing, this theory has actually been around since Dr. Crohns himself came around and named the disease. He thought it was probably caused by some type of Mycobacterium.

It is time to put the speculation to bed.
