Just an update...
I asked about extended hours, or alternate infusion centers, at my rheumatologist's office Wednesday while there for an infusion. Arthritis Centers of Texas (Dr. Willis) - basically struck out. The best they could do would be get me in right as close to 8am as possible and then hurry me out in the 3-4 (ish) hours it takes for the infusion.
I also asked at my GI's office, Texas Digestive Disease Consultants (Dr. Vesy). I must have gotten some new girl, I didn't recognize the name. She basically blew me off and told me to ask the infusion center about their hours - which completely missed the point.
However, I had also contacted BCBSTX, and was connected with their Blue Care Case Management program. A woman there, after getting lots of info from me I would have thought my insurance company should already have, came through with at least one infusion center so far that offers weekend hours: Paragon Dallas Infusion Center http://paragonhealthcare.com/locations/texas-locations/. Has anybody heard anything about it? She's supposed to be getting back with me this morning with some additional options.
At least there's progress.
FMLA could be a possibility; but if I can start scheduling these infusions off hours and avoid the situation completely, that's much better in the long run. I don't plan on being at this job much longer - the benefits are the only reason I'm still there now and haven't just quit on them. (Yes, I'm looking. I won't quit 'till I have Plan B in place.)
