crohns and cold medicine

This may seem a silly question but thought i'd ask here as i'm having trouble getting a GP app.
I was diagnosed with crohns and currently have an ile and am awaiting an operation to remove rectum and correct 2 fistula.
I've just come down with a bad cold over the weekend and am unsure if cold medicines will have an adverse effect on me.
I am currently on pregabalin , oxynorm , co-codamol and citalopram.
Any replies would be appreciated.

This weekend I also came down with a flu (I think it is flu rather than cold), as I had fever (100.5), headache, body ache, loss of appetite. I took some herbal pills, which caused some diarrhea. I slept a lot, which helps. I never took flu vaccine. Today I feel better with body temp (99.1).

OP, what do you mean by cold medicines? There are no medicines that will help you get rid of a cold, only some to relieve symptoms. You can't take any NSAIDs (ibuprofen) but you can take decongestants (which might make sleeping difficult).

The best way to treat a cold is to make sure you are getting a lot of liquids, hot and cold, and that you rest. You can take tylenol for fever or headache.

*scraps post* Just noticed you're on co-codamol which is a combination of paracetamol and codeine. Was about to say cold medications are fine, but most of them contain paracetamol, so no, not fine. Decongestants should be okay, but check the ingredients. You don't want to risk an accidental overdose. For the record, 4g (4000mg) of paracetamol per 24 hours is the recommended maximum dose an adult should take.

NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin) won't do a thing for a cold other than to help break a fever if you have one.

Thanks NiceCupOfTea i had not even thought about the paracetamol side of things , i will check ingredients before purchasing anything.
With everything else that's going on having a cold is not a big deal really although get's you down more , thanks again
