minnietoty - thanks for your reply. Do you need a script for the xilocaine jelly? My doc won't give me anything til I see the colo rectal surgeon. All I know is "I want some". Please tell me more.
Wish I could sit in warm water. I am 76 with many problems - urologist said I can not do sitz baths because I have so much scar tissue (long story) in my chronically sore urethra and would get a UTI from germs going back to front. Have to be extremely careful to keep urinary tract area clean. I notice you have chronic proctitis - are the symptoms all over soreness in the anal/rectal area? Still hoping it is from all the stuff I have been using but I wondered about proctitis.
Got severe osteoporosis from a year on Prednisone for Crohns colitis (bad bleeding in sigmoid area) back in 2001. Before that in the 1990s I had my first flare and became allergic to Asacol, Rowasa enema, cortenema. proctocort, anusol, rubber from too many scopes, lanolin, sorbitol in ointment, (had patch testing as doc did not believe allergies until results were in). GI doc did have a rigid sigmoidoscopy in his office so he used that instead (no rubber) but now that he retired there is no one with a rigid scope anymore. Allergist said I would swell up inside from the flex scope....plus do not think I could get through the cleanout. I would be bleeding so bad they could not do it anyway.
Also saw you were on Prednisone a long time. How are your bones?
I am on Prevacid, Zantac, Librium, Librax, 2 Boost/day, Tums for calcium, multivitamin, Norvasc for HBP and Evista for bones.
GERD, gastritis, crohns colitis, IBS, slight rectal prolapse, enlarged papilla, off and on rectal fissure and now a new one at the anal opening from the soreness and going 10x/day.
PS: I broke down and tried the coconut oil. Just used a little (melty stuff but I smell good). Initially it did burn but right now for the first time in a while it is not feeling as sore or as swollen in there - must be the lube. Have to see how long that lasts. How much can you get in with your gloved finger anyway when it is already runny. I would just like it a little less sore for next week when the CRS takes a look with his little anoscope (ouch). One thing I won't do at this point in my life is surgery.
