blurry vision

My husband was admitted to the hospital with a partial bowel obstruction in the small intestine earlier this week. At the time the attack occured, his vision started to get blurry. He says it is like looking through water. The admitting doctor says he could have Crohn' s and I wondered it this was a common occurrence with Crohn' s. His system is working again but the vision is still bad.

I've been having issues with my vision too, and my GI had mentioned that when flaring it can possibly be the cause of inflammation in other organs such as the liver, lungs and specifically mentioned the eyes.  I know since being taken off my Pentasa I've had vision issues with pressure, and noticeable increase of visible floaters.

Just think it is strange that his vision was fine until the SBO.

I see a retina/vitreous specialists for some eye issues. I asked him if my problems can be caused from my Crohns. He said no. If Crohns is going to affect your eyes it's inflammatory issuses not usually vision problems.

Crohns can absolutely cause vision problems. Inflammation in your eyes can result from Crohns. This inflammation can cause vision loss.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your husband. I think I would ask to be seen by an ompthemologist to be on the safe side. I have had crohns for 34 years, and they watch my eyes because of steroids for so many years.

Was your husband having any sensitivity to light? It's called uveitis and it's connected to Crohn's.

He never mentioned that, he goes for follow-up tomorrow. Wondering if his sed rate was elevated...
