Hi, It has been a while since I have logged on. I was diagnosed with crohns 8 years ago. I also have psoriasis and the summer after enduring joint pain for some time I was told I had psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. After being on Immuran for years which was only moderately effective, I was put on Humira. For the first time in a long time I feel really good. I have started working out, and eating a 'healthy' diet. Which even includes veggies and fruits that I haven't been able to eat in years. I decided to keep write in my blog about my journey with Humira and my weight loss journey. Wonderful news! I have AS also and know the wondrous feeling when the medication works well. Congratulations on your weight loss!

I am currently taking a Lialda and Imuran for my Ulcerative Colitis. I was diagnosed in January 2010 after going thru a divorce. I truly believe stress had a huge part in this. I have managed my UC very well with these meds. Now I have moderate to severe arthritis in my hips. I went to a rheumatologist first of the month and he wants to put me on Humira in January. I am a bank teller and with the public everyday. Am I going to have to find a job away from the public so I am not exposed to colds and viruses? Just needing some advice from someone and how long did it take to feel the difference?

Hopefuljoy: The Humira kicked in pretty quickly. With in the first 3-4 weeks for sure. I was initially taking a dose every two weeks. But I soon noticed that the medicine would "drop off" after 9-10 days. Then I would be miserable. I think I felt so much worse because after not feeling 'good' for years, and then feeling great, to come down and hit rock bottom again was awful! It took several months but they finally gave me approval for weekly doses and that is working great. I have three kids and I am a stay at home mom, but I am out and about going to the gym and shopping, plus being around young kids and I seem to be ok. I don't seem to be any sicker. I would think you would be fine. I had a friend once explain that the medicine made our immune system "normal" instead of hyperactive --- attacking everything. Also, if you are taking Imuran and still working that job, I would think you would be fine. The bonus for me, is that soon (I hope) I will be able to get rid of almost all of my other medications. I will need to stay on a low dose of Imuran because they work better when you take both at the same time. But whoo hoo for a couple of pills a day compared to 20+.

I am so glad you are feeling so good now!! Thanks for the info. My rheumatologist also told me that eventually I could get rid of my pills! I'm just nervous of trying something new that can have bad sie effects. But I guess everything can. Lol. Well I hope you are having a great weekend and I will talk with you later.
