I should have posted sooner, but hopefully I'll still get some replies. I start at 6 pm (central) on my first ever Suprep. My doctor gave me instructions saying nothing about drinking the 32 oz of liquid after the first dose, but to do it after the second dose (at 1:30 in the morning!!!). Does anyone know what exactly the extra 32 oz is for? I'm, of course, planning to drink some after the first dose, but I'm horrible at drinking large amounts so I'm sure I won't be able to get it all down in an hour like I'm supposed to. Hopefully I'll be able to do it all tomorrow morning! I know it's all downhill after this dumb prep so I'm hoping I can just push through the next several hours of prep! Thanks so much for any info you have about Suprep, guys!

I used Suprep 2 years ago and you definitely need to drink 32 oz after the first dose and second dose. Drinking all of the extra fluids helps clean you out sufficiently, and helps you stay hydrated.

I agree with caia...you really are at risk for dehydration when you poop your brains out and don't drink enough fluids. Good luck with the prep and colonoscopy. I'm having mine on Monday, so I'm not far behind you!

Thanks guys! It's not going to bad. I got the Suprep down in about 5 min. but it worked so fast that I didn't get all my fluids down in an hour. I'm a little concerned about my next dose in the morning. Does anyone know if you have to get it done in an hour or could you stretch it a little? I probably could get the extra 32 oz. down in 1.5 hours.

Also, just noticed it says to drink 32 oz. of additional WATER. I've been drinking other clear liquids, but not water. Does that matter???

I'm in the mid of a Suprep... Got that down in 30mins but only am finishing my 2nd 16 ozs (not including the Suprep one) down now and it's been 2 hrs. I was sick all weekend with diarrhea and had t eaten much. My elimination is already clear.... Do I really need to force the 3rd 16ozs down. I am sooo nauseous as it is! Help... I can't do this again....just so upset right now...

Many people think if you are running clear that you can stop the prep. I've always finished all the prep so I don't know if that really works. If you are in bad shape you can maybe call the doc on call and get advice....or just do the best you can and try not to worry. They can use suction if you are not completely cleaned out. I hope you are doing ok

Canadachick, I've stretched out the time it takes me to drink beyond what the directions say multiple times. Whenever I start to feel like I might throw up I slow down. I think you'll be ok if you stretch the time some, as long as you start going clear you should be ok. I think you'll also be ok with not just drinking water after the suprep, although after the second dose maybe you should switch to just water. I think those fluids are mostly needed to clear you out and it shouldn't matter much what those fluids are, with my most recent prep ( Prepopik) I was allowed to drink any clear liquids after each dose.

Meeshy, whenever I do a prep I do my best to get as much done as I can tolerate. You don't want to have an inadequate prep and have to do it again, or not have the best scope. Did your doctors office give you a number you could call if you were having problems while doing the prep? If so try to talk with someone there. I think if you are going clear you should be ok but you may want to make sure.

Getting ready to start the 2nd round. I forgot to mention that my biggest problem is that I have Hypoglycemia. The Drs never get that! This morning I am so unbelievably weak and shakey and lightheaded.. afraid to start again but I will and I'll do as much as I can. Appt is t till 12:30 but if I check my sugar and it's too low, I'll see if I can got here early to get started on an IV. Not sure the place will accept me though.
