Hello Everyone,
I don't have Crohn's Disease (to the best of my knowledge) but I was wondering if anyone abscess experience can help me out. On October 31st, 2014 I had a perianal abscess incised and drained; the procedure apparently went very well and the wound was packed and I experienced very little pain after the operation (I was knocked out for the actual drainage). I revisited my surgeon on November 10th and December 9th for status updates and each time I was told that it was healing well, there was no sign of fistula and there was no "serious" sign of infection. Today (January 2nd) I visited my regular doctor (not my surgeon) because, while the hole is no longer open, there is starting to be some stinging pain (not intense, but more than earlier) and there is still a sort of raw skin/sore were the incision was. My regular doctor looked at it and told me it is infected and prescribed Amox antibiotics and suggested I make yet another appointment with my surgeon to see what should be done. There is no mushy "bump" like there was when I had the abscess, but there is still some very hard stuff under the skin around the wound (scar tissue?) I haven't felt any pain other than the stinging on the surface and there is no pain when I have bowel movements...is it possible I could still have a fistula? I was told me the nurse that fistulas are extremely painful and that I would "know it" if one formed. What do you guys think? I am going nuts because it's Friday night and I cant see my surgeon until Monday! I am taking the antibiotics though. Thanks in advance for all replies.
