Align Probiotic-has anyone tried it?

I know Align is one of 2 probiotic supplements (VLS#&Align) recommended for Crohn's pationts. This product is very expensive. Has anyone tried this product? I heard of people who tried VLS# but not Align.
I wonder why this product is so expensive, it only contains one strain (Bifidobacterium infantis 35624), how could it be?

My probiotic capsules contain 10 species. I'm not sure why Align contains only one, but a list of the species of beneficial bacteria required by the human body can be found by searching for "list of beneficial bacteria for a healthy gut" on the web. Each one has a job to do and they are destroyed by antibiotics and can be replaced only by ingesting them. There are many reputable companies selling probiotics, but I've never found one in the supermarket. Mine cost me .47 a day. Affordable and proven effective for me. Hope you find something.

I'm taking Superb Probiotic (in powder, I can't handle large doses of probiotic, i've also tried probiotic yogurt and it didn't end very well so i'm taking the children's probiotic. It contains 7 strains)
Just wonder why Align is so recommended for Crohn's patients, what is so special about this product. (consider the fact it contains only one strain)

Where do you see that Align is so highly recommended for Crohn's patients? I haven't seen any data that says it's beneficial for Crohn's.

I tried it a few years ago and didn't notice anything, positive or negative. I tried several others, including VSL#3, and didn't notice anything from *any* of them. Your experience, though, could be totally different. I know some people swear by them, and I know somebody with IBD who flares because of them!

My GI specialist recommended Align for Crohn's. But I read the label and found it may contain some milk ingredient (lactose). So I used the Walgreen brand. May help a little bit (I used it for a month or so). I no longer use it.

Hi Shimrit, I haven't used Align probiotics yet. I use healthy origins probiotics which contains 8 different strains and 30 billion microorganisms per capsule. It's pretty strong and has resolved my food allergies. Earlier I used Mutaflor, which consists of only one stain, but a special one. E. Coli Nissle 1971 is clinically proved to be a gut colonizing bacterium. I did have some benefits from the product. Since, It was very expensive, I discontinued it. I guess, the Bifidobacterium Infantis bacterium in Align probiotic may be patented and is special (It carries a different number - 35624). Hence, it may be expensive. You could just give it a try

If you react to high potent probiotic products, I would suggest you to start with multi-strain low dose (say around 2 billion per capsule) probiotic like BoiKult or any other.

You could also use the capsule content to make yogurt at home. In that case, I would recommend you to use the commercial yogurt starter as well.
