I have to go in every 4 months instead of the normal 6...it DOES make it soooooo much better (less painful and quicker)...it seems that it is more due to Crohn's, but the steroids didn't help either...at least with the steroids it was less painful, but bled more...I have also learned, if I am not feeling well, don't go and see the dentist...my gums will hurt for a much, much longer period...even if I have to cancel and redo in the next week...I'm lucky that my dentist is very understanding (had him since 1989, and he was just out of dental school)...so I can cancel within a day or so...
Oh and talk to your dentist too...they do have things that can help...there is always new info that concerns teeth and disease that even your GI may not be aware...not to mention they can use some stuff to help out in between, and during exams...
