I was diagnosed with Chrons in 2002 and have always had intermittent joint pain. However, recently my hips are in excruciating pain. I can't turn over in bed when sleeping due to pain and I can barely walk. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Hi Rhonda. Welcome to the forum. What is your current medication for Crohn's?
I have had a lot of joint pain along with my IBD. I have found that sulfazine helps me, and being gluten-free.

Hello, I have taken so many. I started out with Pentasa, took remicade injections, sulfazidine, humira caused medication induced lupus so they put me on imuran which didn't help and most recently methotrexate pills and now methotrexate shots along with budesonide and Celebrex.

Have you read anything about the MTHFR gene? The fact that you have been recently using methotrexate and are having this pain (and obviously have IBD) makes me wonder what sort of MTHFR mutation you have. People with mutations in that gene have a very impaired methylation process, which means they respond differently to methotrexate than a person without the gene mutation. You can do a gene test through 23andme (it runs about $100 unless you do it free through the IBD study they have going on right now) and you can find out if this might be your situation.
I hope things improve for you!

Thank you I will definitely check into that. I had never heard of it.
