Sorry I'm seeing this so late, but I agree with those who posted above. I would never, never take antibiotics unless I knew exactly what they were supposed to treat, and a test had confirmed that I was positive for that bacteria. I was "diagnosed" with strep for about 5 years, around the same time every spring.....funny thing, my strep test was never positive. In hindsight, I now know that those "infections" were actually me flaring. But at the time, I had not been diagnosed with IBD yet.
There is a rinse I get at the compounding pharmacy called the "MYLES rinse". It has 5 different things in it - an antifungal, and antibiotic, and antiviral, and a couple other things I'm forgetting. It's a thing you can swish and spit a few times a day, and it's supposed to shorten the duration of mouth/throat ulcers that have an "unknown cause" (of course, I know Crohn's is the "cause", but I mean they're not sure what exactly in the body triggers them.)
But honestly, the way to really get the mouth ulcers to stop is to get your IBD symptoms under control. I've been on Remicade for a little over a year now and I've only had one instance of having a couple ulcers for a week or two. Prior to starting the biologic, I probably had ulcers 5-6 times a year.
I hope you're feeling better by now, and I'd encourage you in the future to make sure an antibiotic is really necessary before you take it - they can be really hard on your guts and cause long-term damage, even if you seem to feel a little better in the short-term.
