2 years ago, I started feeling pain in the right peri-anal region. Was misdiagnosed with hemorrhoids and fissure and then had surgery to remove the perianal abscess which was pretty deep in my opinion! This abscess came back 5 times in all. 3 of the times I needed surgery to drain and the other 2 times it drained itself. During this time I had a colonoscopy to check for inflammatory bowel diseases (I was cleared), and after some time I had an MRI which showed that I had a fistula. For the fistula I had a seton stitch placed, which only lasted a while. However they said that it was not meant to stay for long. After some time I wanted to be checked again because I was getting the same funny feelings, but I was told that everything was ok. I've had a pretty normal life abscess + fistula free, up until now. Last week I had a big diarrhoea which lasted 3 days, in the 3rd day I took some Imodium which helped me stop. about 4 days ago I started feeling discomfort in the perianal region. However I was convinced that this was coming from the hemorrhoids, and that it was indeed some kind of inflammation. however today upon inspecting the area I got some bad news, because the pain, the place where it is, etc etc, it feels so similar to what I had 2 years ago. Could it possibly have come back!? I had thought that if it had not come back for that long then it must have somehow healed. what could have happened? I'm in disbelief.
I'm really writing for some help, for some tips, points or even if just to open up with someone. I read some of the posts in here and at least I don't feel alone. This has been going on for too long and I feel sad and depressed. It feels like I will never get rid of it. But most of all what sucks is that it goes and then it just comes back. and I just have to start the whole process with draining etc etc. I will have to book an appointment with my surgeon asap. Thank you for your time x
