Thank you, it is worth a shot at least. I am not fond of the idea of where it comes from either but I am less fond of the idea of some of the other available options. Which one do you use? I ordered DAOsin from Swanson, there were a couple other options on Amazon.
I am gluten intolerant as well and keep that out of my diet as much as possible, it is the yeast issue I can never get completely away from bc it is naturally occurring. so I hope the DAO will help with that.(your red wine could have something to do with yeast as well?)
I have also found some information on foods that are supposed to contain or increase DAO. Green pea sprouts are supposed to contain it, that is a simple but detailed process that I am going to try as well. I also read that Mangosteen and butterbur supplements can increase DAO as well as chamomile, saffron, anise, fennel, caraway, licorice, cardamom and black seed. I have also ordered the mangosteen and black seed so hopefully the pig supplement will be temporary or only occasionally when I know I will be cheating.
Another study I stumbled on from June 2014 showed that chlorogenic acid decreases intestinal permeability, of course it was in rats. Hopefully their next step is humans. The only chlorogenic acid supplement I found was green coffee extract, the study stated that it is found in many fruits and plants but didn't state their source that I recall. DR Oz recommended green coffee a while back but I don't recall why, the manufacturers tout it as a weight loss supplement which is not what I need, but the reviews state that it is not a dramatic loss.
So it sounds like a lot of supplements, and nothing I found showed recommended amounts so I guess I will follow the manufacturers recommendations. but maybe if the chlorogenic acid helps with the permeability, and the DAOsin and pea sprouts can stop the histamine reaction that also damages the gut, while the mangosteen, and black seed help me to increase my own along with the diet changes I am hopeful to get myself a little closer to working order.
