Welcome CC,
IBD and it's meds can be hard on the liver, I would steer clear of alcohol as much as you can. Beer and wine are full of yeast which many crohn's patients react to. Last time I had a beer was in 2008, it gave me an asthma attack. Since that time I avoid yeast and gluten. Very occasionally I have some tequila, yum!
As for the Azathioprine people react differently. I was allergic to it and was never sicker than the two weeks I was on it. My mom has crohn's and the drug has basically saved her life, she's been on it 30 years or so and stays in remission. Her disease used to be severe and she almost died from it. Just make sure the dr is monitoring your blood for problems such as liver enzyme elevation and pancreas problems. If you are just starting with the drug you should be having your blood checked quite often-every other week or so. Hope it helps you!
